Dear Subscribers,
I wish you and your families a prosperous and healthy 2025!
Today’s newsletter will be brief and focus on AI, which was the star technology of 2024 and will undoubtedly be again in 2025.
I’ve collected a series of what you view as the top AI reads of the year!
Why only seven? Because the view count of these articles far exceeded that of articles 8 through 10. That’s why I’m calling these “the best of the best.”
Interestingly, the Top AI article of the year isn’t about a fancy new AI development but the potential liability of using AI!
This shows just how much fear there is about the risk and liabilities of AI going rogue.
I hope you enjoy these articles. They are a great way to ensure you stay on top of the AI revolution.
Remember: Falling behind in the field of AI is not an option.
Enjoy!
The Top AI Reads of 2024
7. Revealed Companies "Not Rushing Into AI" as Magnificent Seven Stocks Slump
There was no "Santa Rally" for the magnificent seven tech stocks this month, and there is a growing sense that AI-driven market gains are overhyped.
Here’s the download and for those who want to read my full article it can be found: HERE
6. AI Agents: A New Paradigm for Human-Machine Collaboration
We live in the era of AI Agents, and if you think this means just another chatbot, you couldn’t be more wrong.
AI Agents will be the 🔥HOT TOPIC🔥 of 2025, and these two great reads, one from Deloitte and the other from Moody’s, will help you understand them. Both articles are combined in a single PDF. My article: HERE
5. The Future AI: If The Massive Bubble Doesn't Pop
This is a great report on AI from the Financial Times. It has something for everyone, as it covers AI's impact on six different industries.
4. IMF: 60% of Jobs in Advanced Economies Impacted by AI!
The IMF lays out our AI future as one of stark contrasts.
A utopian view where AI jumpstarts productivity boosts global growth and raises incomes worldwide, and the other dystopian where AI replaces jobs and deepens inequality.
Read why the IMF estimates are likely to be far too low: HERE
3. Generative AI: Insights You Need From HBR.
"Business is changing. Will you adapt or be left behind?
HBR's tagline for this report seems to sum up nicely why this made the AI Top Insights reading list for 2024.
Great chapters:
3: A Framework for Picking the Right Generative AI Project
7: Generative AI Has an Intellectual Property Problem
8: AI Prompt Engineering Isn’t the Future (This one is particularly interesting.)
11: The AI Hype Cycle Is Distracting Companies
2. "The Global 50 Opportunities"
This report by DUBAI FUTURE FOUNDATION lays out 50 "opportunities" that it calls a blueprint for the future.
Now brace yourself! Not every opportunity is about AI, or even tech, but there is enough about AI in the report to qualify for this Top AI Insights listing!
My favorite chapter was on AI as “Digital Public Infrastructure.”
THE No 1. TOP READ: Reality Check: GenAI in Banking, Will Banks Own the Errors?
Stop telling me how GenAI will transform banking; instead, tell me how banks will own the liability these new systems create!
This otherwise excellent BCG report and so many others miss this.
My accompanying article hightlights the reality of AI liability and looks briefly at how Air Canada tried to distance itself from chatbot liability unsuccessfully.
If Air Canada tried this strategy, you can bet banks would too!
What fascinates me is that the top spot for AI articles was taken by an article discussing AI’s potential liabilities! This shows how seriously my readers view AI risk.
My take on AI’s potential liability: HERE
